The Educreations App
is free app available on IPads, that allows for teacher to produce new video
lessons to teach new material. The app functions similar to a normal class presentation,
but records it and allows for access to that lesson at any time. Teachers can
draw or insert pictures/graphs into the presentation. The app allows for
teachers to insert pictures/graphs from their personal library or take new
pictures. The app allows for the teacher to then modify or draw on top of that
picture/design. The presentation can be created using one page or multiple
pages, and allows for undoing or redoing anything written on each page. Once
the lesson is recorded, then the teacher can save it for private, public, my
students, or make it available to my school. I definitely think I could use the
Educreations App in my future
classroom. I think it would be great way to introduce information to individual
students to start a lesson. The only problem would be that students could not
ask questions during the video to the teacher, but perhaps the teacher could be
available in the room to answer questions. I think it would be especially great
for math, because it would describe what the teacher is thinking as he or she
answers the questions. So then students can try to imitate that thinking. Students
could also watch the videos at their own pace. The teacher could easily provide
a worksheet that could act as an assessment during the video as well. Students
could also repeat difficult to understand parts of the video as much as they
want, or assess the video again at night during homework. Perhaps the videos
could also be paired with homework so that the video explains how to do
homework, instead of spending time in class. The recorded presentations also
makes it easier on the teacher because they only have to be recorded once, not
each year.
